InstallationParameters

The following installation parameters apply only to the configurations specified.

Installation Location Requirement (Volvo Penta 3.0L & 4.3L Carbureted / 3.0GS / OMC 3.0/3.0 H.O.) Install only at the carburetor base joint. Do not use this gasket at the exhaust manifold-to-cylinder-head joint or exhaust elbow joint.

Installation Guide

General installation overview. Follow the service manual for your exact engine and carburetor configuration. Fuel-system work requires the appropriate skills and precautions.

  1. Verify the gasket and prepare the engine safely: Confirm that OEM reference 3853283 (or aftermarket reference GLM30382) matches your engine's carburetor base requirement. Shut off the engine, allow it to cool completely, isolate the fuel supply and battery/ignition per your service manual, and work in a well-ventilated area away from ignition sources.
  2. Remove the carburetor and inspect the base flange: Label and disconnect linkages, fuel lines, and electrical connections as directed by the service manual, then unbolt and lift the carburetor from the intake manifold. Clean old gasket material from both the carburetor base and intake mounting surface without gouging the metal, and compare the new gasket's bolt pattern and throttle-bore openings directly against the original base gasket.
  3. Reinstall the carburetor and check for leaks: Position the new mounting gasket on the carburetor base, reinstall the carburetor, and tighten the mounting fasteners evenly to the sequence and specification in your service manual. Reconnect the fuel line and linkages, verify that the throttle moves freely without binding, check carefully for any fuel seepage or vacuum leaks, and only run the engine when proper cooling water supply is connected.
