Installation Guide

General installation overview. Follow the service manual for your exact engine and carburetor configuration. Fuel-system work requires the appropriate skills and precautions.

1. Preparation and Identification: Ensure the engine is shut off and cool, disconnect the battery or ignition source, and isolate the fuel supply in a well-ventilated area away from ignition sources. Before disassembly, confirm your engine model plate (90LD, Sport JET, or 95XR), production year, and reference number 809735A1, and record the routing of all fuel hoses and throttle or choke linkages.
2. Disassembly and Component Matching: Remove and disassemble the carburetor according to your official Mercury or Force service manual. Clean the metal passages and mating surfaces with approved carburetor cleaner, then compare every removed seal and internal part directly against the supplied kit components—replacing only the parts that match your exact carburetor configuration.
3. Reassembly and Leak Inspection: Reassemble the carburetor and reinstall it onto the intake manifold following the service manual procedures and adjustments. Reconnect the fuel line, prime the system to inspect carefully for any fuel weeping or linkage binding, and perform test running only with the proper cooling water supply attached; shut the engine down immediately if any leak or abnormal operation occurs.
