General installation overview. Follow the service manual for your exact engine and carburetor configuration. Fuel-system work requires the appropriate skills and precautions.

  1. Preparation and Position Verification: Ensure the engine is shut off and cool, disconnect the ignition and fuel supply according to your service manual, and work in a well-ventilated area away from ignition sources. Before removal, confirm that the carburetor being serviced is in the bottom position and compare the new unit's mounting flange, linkages and fuel inlet routing against the existing bottom carburetor.
  2. Removal and Replacement: Label or photograph all fuel lines, vacuum hoses and throttle/choke linkage connections attached to the bottom carburetor. Remove the existing bottom carburetor following your Mercury Mariner service manual, inspect the mounting surface, and install the replacement carburetor in the bottom position while ensuring smooth, unobstructed movement of all linkages.
