Shut off the engine, allow it to cool completely, isolate the fuel supply and ignition system as specified in your service manual, and work in a well-ventilated area away from ignition sources.
  2. Document connections and remove the existing carburetor: Note or photograph the routing and orientation of fuel lines, choke and throttle linkages, and mounting hardware before removal. Remove the old carburetor according to the service manual, inspect the mounting flange surfaces, and verify that the mounting gasket is in serviceable condition or replaced with the appropriate gasket for your application.
  3. Install the replacement carburetor and perform leak and operation checks: Mount the replacement carburetor, reconnect the fuel line and linkages, and verify smooth, unobstructed throttle and choke movement.
