Preparation and Part Comparison: Ensure the outboard engine is shut off and cool, disconnect the fuel supply and ignition source as instructed in your service manual, and work in a well-ventilated area away from open flames. Compare the new carburetor directly against your existing unit—checking mounting flanges, throttle and choke linkage connections, fuel inlet orientation, and the complete reference number—and verify whether a separate mounting gasket is required before disassembly.
Removal and Replacement Installation: Label or photograph all fuel lines, breather hoses, and linkage positions before removing the old carburetor. Inspect and clean the intake mounting surface, position the replacement carburetor and appropriate sealing gasket according to your service manual, and secure the mounting fasteners and linkages so the throttle and choke move smoothly through their full range without binding.
